This vacuum and the APEX model are the best vacuum in the market right now. With Duo Clean system everything is so much easy. Great product good job SharkI agree with all the reviews that this is an incredible vacuum, better than any others I’ve owned, including my Dyson. I LOVED this thing! After 2 years the plastic handle broke so I used duct tape and it worked fine. 3 years and 3 months after purchase the plastic broke on the base so the vacuum wouldn’t stand upright. Fine, I laid it on it’s side when not using. Then the clear, plastic hose split. I was going to replace it, but the canister/wand part that stands upright broke completely off the base. I’m tempted to buy another, but 3 years isn’t long enough after investing almost $300 on it.

I decided to purchase a new vacuum since I wasn’t sure how well my Oreck was cleaning. I really like how easy it was to assemble, took only a couple of minutes using the quick start guide and then it was ready to go. I had previously vacuumed earlier in the week so I was surprised how much it picked up, especially dust. One of the main reasons I was looking at Shark was because I have allergies to dust, pollen, etc. I liked that based on previous reviews I had seen, shark vacuums use HEPA filters (washable) and have a closed system, so dust particles will not escape from the vacuum thus keeping your air clean. I also noticed that it was no where near as noisy as my Oreck. I live in an apartment on the third floor, so I do appreciate that. I have used it twice so far since yesterday and can already see some cons to this product. First thing I noticed right away, even when I was deciding on purchasing in store, is that the cleaning head/path is very small compared to other uprights. This is both a pro and a con. It is able to get into smaller areas without my having to move chairs like before, but it does take at least a good 5 minutes more for me to vacuum my living room. Second, when removing the handle for using the attachments, the hose is very short and anytime I tried to extend to hose to reach 1-2ft away, it would knock the whole upright portion over. Honestly it started to get a little annoying when trying to use the upholstery piece on my bedskirt. I wish it had an extendable hose like the Dyson vacuums use, that would fix the issue with the hose being too short and pulling over the upright. Lastly and this is probably my fault for not realizing the difference, but it is not a POWERED lift away, meaning when you remove the lift away component, you cannot use the cleaning head for going under furniture. This is the main con for myself and is making me reconsider the purchase. I still greatly enjoy this vacuum even with only using it twice. Of course I can’t speak to durability but I did notice quite a lot of plastic pieces compared to my Oreck. I’ve also read in other reviews people having issues with warranty replacement of broken pieces within 6 months of ownership, so even with the vacuum having a 5 year warranty, that doesn’t really mean much to the consumer if it doesn’t cover anything. I see that there’s a Uplight Corded Lift Away coming soon, so I’m hoping that it might better suit my needs. I’ve attached some pictures show the size comparison to my Oreck XL Edge and the cleaning path size.

So far, great vacuum. Good suction, great pickup, easy to maneuver, & mid priced. I originally thought we should have gone with the slightly larger xl version (larger container, and we are sticking up a bunch of debris), but my wife informs me she likes the fact that this is easier to maneuver. Previous vac was an older model Dyson – this Shark cost half of a new dyson. Note: We have only had it 2 weeks. Pleased right out of the box, but trusting that it will avoid the gradeyard fate of all previous vacs owned prior to the Dyson which lastest years.
